SIM PTT INTERFACE UNIT

SIM PTT Interface Unit  is designed to  bridges the gap between rugged professional hardware and modern simulation software. It connects real-world DB9 PTT handsets directly to training PCs, instantly converting specialized analog hardware into a standard USB audio and control device. This eliminates the need for custom wiring, complex audio splitters, or serial-to-USB COM port mapping. Trainees interact with the exact tactile hardware they will use at sea or in the air, while developers gain a reliable, plug-and-play interface for any simulation suite.

SIM PTT Interface Unit

SIM PTT Interface Unit (VM-DHW-001.22) provides a simple, reliable, and cost-effective solution for integrating Push-to-Talk (PTT) handsets and headsets with modern PC systems. It addresses common challenges in communication setups while minimizing complexity for the user.

SIM PTT Interface Unit supports multiple handset types with different voltage requirements (0V, 5V, 12V), allowing clients to:

  • Use existing equipment: Cobham Sailor 6201/6202, Cobham Sailor HS5001, JRC NQW-261,

       HEADset with XLR7 Connector

  • Avoid replacing costly hardware

  • Adapt to different communication systems

Use Cases:

  • GMDSS Simulator Training: Replicates authentic Global Maritime Distress and Safety System operations by linking physical handsets to digital radio consoles for distress calling and safety communications.

  • VHF/HF Radio Communication: Enhances navigational simulators with realistic voice procedures, allowing trainees to operate simulated high-frequency and very-high-frequency radio stations using tactile PTT controls.

  • Bridge Team Management (BTM): Powers both external ship-to-ship radio traffic and internal intercom communications, critical for training crew coordination during docking, piloting, and emergency drills.

  • Vessel Traffic Services (VTS): Simulates shore-to-ship communications within port control and traffic management training suites, using heavy-duty hardware built for 24/7 operations.

  • Aviation & ATC Simulation: Adapts seamlessly to air traffic control and ground handling simulation platforms that require standard DB9 PTT handsets for pilot-to-tower communications.

Zero Driver Configuration: Works out-of-the-box as a standard USB audio and HID device, eliminating complex COM port mapping.
Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL): Provides system integrators with a reliable hardware bridge to test simulator software with physical control inputs.
